Sweet Gifts Blog

Everyone has a gift and for some they are connected to their gift and others are still trying to connect with theirs. Well I knew when I started my business what my gift was, and I was well connected with it. Born and raised in New Orleans to a big family of Johnsons and Raymond's  I seen the gift of giving and making people happy all around me. Both sides of my family were close so we got together quite often. Gift giving didn't come wrapped in a beautiful box, it came from the two kitchens of my grand mothers.

The tables was always set and full of delicious foods and desserts. I love cooking , and always found myself helping in the kitchen. One of my aunts was good for hands on training. Anything we wanted to eat she would say yes, we can make that go wash your hands, and she would teach us the whole process step by step. My mom and dad were great cooks too. My mom was the one who started me as a child on making pecan candy. It smelled so good when she made it, all the neighbors could smell it,  and some would get a small container of pecan candy from her, and when they did the smiles on their faces said it all. At that point I was affected by seeing such a great emotion just from giving and sharing with others.

Today as I operate Southern Fixings Pralines I get to share in that same emotion that sweet gift the one that fills me up when I see so many enjoying our pralines and following us at every event just to enjoy, smile, and get their fix of our delicious praline treats.
